Frequently Asked Questions

Licensing

What is a font licence?

A font license grants you the right to use a specific font in certain ways, as outlined in the licensing agreement. Please note that purchasing a font license does not grant ownership of the font itself.

The license fee is a one-time payment for ongoing use of the font, as per the terms of your chosen license. There are no recurring fees. However, if your usage exceeds the terms of your current license, an upgrade may be required.

All font licenses are valid for worldwide use and have no expiration date.

We offer a range of font licenses for desktop, web, and app use. Additional licenses may be available upon request. Please refer to our font licensing page for detailed information.

Before purchasing a font license, please carefully review the terms and conditions to ensure they meet your specific needs.

Which font licence is right for me?

For a detailed overview of our font licensing options and their corresponding use cases, please visit our font licensing page.

We offer standard licenses for desktop, web, and app usage. Additionally, we can provide custom licenses to accommodate specific needs.

If you have a unique use case not covered by our standard licenses, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Can I licence a single font style?

Yes. All of our fonts are available as individual styles. You can also purchase a licence for font families. Purchasing font licences in bulk like this is cheaper than licensing each individual style. The cart reflects discounts as you add items to it.

Can I share your fonts with my client or contractor?

Yes, but there are terms and conditions. Under the terms of our standard desktop font licence you can share the font files with any authorised people or parties outside of your organisation, including clients, contractors, freelance employees, vendors, partners, agencies, affiliates, suppliers or other associates for purposes related to your business. As the licence holder, you must ensure that all third parties are aware of and comply with the terms of the Desktop Font Licence. Your licence must cover all intended users within and outside of your company or organisation. If your use increases over time, you must upgrade your licence with us.

In scenarios where there is a client and design or similar creative agency working together, we recommend that the client purchases the desktop font licence , becoming the licence holder and end user. They can then share the fonts with their agency and other third parties for purposes associated with their business, brand and/or projects.

Web fonts

What counts as a web domain?

Your website's address, also known as the domain name, consists of several parts:

  • Second-level domain: This is the main, unique name that identifies your website. In the example "https://www.example.com", "example" is the second-level domain.
  • Top-level domain (TLD): This is the ending part of the domain name, like ".com", ".org", or ".fr". It indicates the website's purpose or origin.
  • Subdomains: These are optional prefixes before the second-level domain, used to further categorize sections of your website. For instance, "shop.example.com" or "blog.example.com".

To qualify for this license, you must have ownership of the entire domain name and control the content on your website. This rewrite clarifies the terminology and makes it easier to understand the different parts of a domain name. It also emphasizes the ownership requirement for the license in a more concise way.

What font formats do you offer for Web-licensed fonts?

Upon successful payment, you'll immediately receive a downloadable .zip file containing your purchased web (.woff, .woff2) font files. You can also access your order and download your fonts at any time through your BeauType account. Simply sign in to your account using the email address associated with your purchase.
